If you get hacked, it’s not necessarily your fault unless you did indeed make a fatal error in your OPSEC. Because you don’t have full control or access to the systems and devices that you use. As well as others that do have control that can make mistakes that you are at the mercy of because it’s beyond your control.
However, if you get scammed (conned, social engineering etc.), then it is 100 percent your fault. Even if there were others involved that also got scammed together with you. This is because while you don’t have any control over the scammer, you do have full control of the system of your mind, unlike computer systems. Essentially, if you get scammed, you are letting them scam you. That’s the difference between getting hacked and getting scammed.
Fortunately, that means you can be 100 percent effective in not being scammed 100 percent of the time with good operations security and vigilance.
